When it comes time to use the paint, tilt the can forwards (towards
you) and press gently with a paint-brush handle on the far side of the
seal to “crack” it from the can walls. It will slide forward and follow
the paint flow up the lower can wall so you can easily grasp the forward
edge and remove the seal without touching any paint. Wipe off surplus
paint and sit the seal (wet side down) on the upturned can lid until you
have finished painting. Then simply re-insert the seal to store the
remaining paint.

Yes, as many times as you are prepared to clean off the old paint.
Wash oil-based paints off with normal thinners or mineral turpentine and
wash acrylics off with water. Avoid damaging the outer rim of the seal
as it may affect the effectiveness of subsequent sealing. If moving the
seal between oil-based and water-based paints ensure that it has had air
drying time between uses (it may need a day or two). Some components in
oil-based paints may penetrate the plastic in the seal and if not dried
out can cause a problem when in contact with acrylic paints in that the
device may not suck down well onto the paint surface.

A patented feature of Keep-ya-Paint is that it will maintain a
vacuum-seal even when irregularities in the circular can wall are
involved. Clearly, there are limits but most dents are relatively
shallow and Keep-ya-Paint has been demonstrated to easily handle the
typical dent in a can.

Initial production has been in PVC as PET has been difficult to
obtain in Australia. We are now switching production to PET. The latter
has fewer (if any) environmental issues associated with its manufacture,
although it is slightly more costly on tooling maintenance.

Some stores that mainly deal with professional painters and
decorators initially told us this, but trials of the product in quite a
few of these stores show that professionals are buying Keep-ya-Paint in
good numbers. They find: they can now put a seal on their rimless day
painting bucket and no longer have to clean up this bucket at the end of
each day. They can also leave their touch-up left-over paint for the
client without having to decant to a smaller container, and signwriters
are now buying oil-based paints in 4-litre containers as their frequent
but irregular need for small quantities no longer involves waste of many
half-emptied smaller containers such as 0.5 and 1.0 litre pots.

Keep-ya-Paint is designed for a freshly opened can of paint. Old,
dried paint on inner can walls will generally interfere with its correct
use. With fresh paint, use the Keep-ya-Paint as a scraper and rotate it
around the can and down the walls internally to push the bulk of the
fresh paint back down before installing the seal on the paint surface.
This way, paint is saved and later messiness avoided. If, during
storage, any minor weeping from underneath the seal occurs, or other
contaminant falls into the can, wipe the surface clean before “cracking”
or opening the seal.

Presently, Keep-ya-Paint is available for the commonly used 4-litre
can in Australia, (approx. 176mm diameter) and for the US 1.0 gallon
size can (approx. 165 mm or 6.5” diameter). In Canada the US 1.0 gallon
size is equivalent to 3.4 -3.8 litre can capacity and the diameter is
equivalent. The 4-litre paint can used in Europe and the UK is the same
diameter as that used in Australia so export shipment is available
immediately.
The next size to be developed will be the 10.0 litre can size for
Australia. Other can sizes will be developed as demand is demonstrated.
If you have a can size (diameter) for Keep-ya-Paint we will manufacture
to order minimums of 50,000 units. If you are interested in developing
your national market for Keep-ya-Paint please contact us at
calm2@bigpond.com. (See also separate section on
world-wide marketing).

Because of its low cost we are unable to supply by direct mail other
than for commercial sample purposes. Retailers please see details below
under separate section. For a 5-pack commercial sample we need to charge
recovery cost and for Australia this is $10.00 by cheque to our postal

if outside Australia. Exclusive Australian Distributor: Sequence

Some stores might prefer a slightly more expensive 3-pack approach
that we are presently making available. However, it is recommended that
the 50-pack box be carried as well. This allows single-item purchase;
the cost of purchasing 3 at a time may deter some customers.

Not if you point out to your customers that now they can safely store
paint in larger quantities. If your customers are happy with being able
to keep paint longer they will feel happy about the entire process of
planning and working through their maintenance program. There is nothing
more frustrating than opening a half-used can of paint only to find that
it has to be discarded. Help your customer to manage his or her painting
chores and you’ll have a customer for life. Beat the competition. Bring
customers back to your store because they perceive you have their
interests in mind as well.
